Custom Labels

Custom Labels provide the the ability to create free-form messages, or alphanumeric text strings in:

• Onscreen help or tips
• Alert messages
• Warning messages

The custom labels are added via the Translation Workbench, and are used in these elements in the platform:

• Pages
• Classes
• Actions
• Java API: showMessage, throwError
• JavaScript validation messages
• Web Tabs
• Components

To add custom labels:

1. Click Designer > Global Resources > Translation Workbench
2. Specify the following information:

   Language

   Select the desired language

   Elements

   Custom Labels

   Category

   --New Category--

   Category Name

   Enter a name for the category

3. Click the [New] button to create the new category
4. In the form that appears, enter the token and the Translated Custom Message
   • A maximum of 100 tokens can be created for each Category
5. Click [Save]
